Washington Youth Tour

Once a year, Tri-County Electric Cooperative sends two high school juniors to attend a week long all- expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C. The Youth Tour gives students a chance to see government in action, visit historical sites, attend cultural events, and learn more about electric cooperatives. They will get to meet other participants or delegates from across the country.
The tour, scheduled in June of each year is sponsored by the electric cooperatives from throughout the United States. All students selected to represent South Carolina will not only win the week-long all expense-paid trip, but will also be eligible to compete for a $2,500 college scholarship. The scholarship winner is chosen based on an essay, the application and the amount of interest and participation shown on the tour.
The Washington Youth Tour is a part of Tri-County Electric’s educational program and commitment to the communities we serve. This is just one more way you benefit
from being a cooperative member.
